On Tuesday 14 April, representatives from twelve Marriott properties travelled to the BUas campus in Breda. From Barcelona to Vienna, from Rotterdam to Dublin: they arrived with real stories, open conversations and a clear message for our students.

Real stories on a real stage

The day opened with an introduction to Hotel Branding and the structure of Marriott International. A highlight for first-year students was the introduction to the Voyage Graduate Programme. This is Marriott's award-winning global leadership development programme for recent graduates. Voyage is a paid, full-time programme of 12 to 18 months, based at a Marriott-managed hotel in one of 50+ countries. Participants work across hotel disciplines, are mentored by senior leaders, and many step directly into a management role upon completion.

A panel discussion followed, with guests from different countries and roles sharing their perspectives. Topics included mental resilience, setting boundaries and building a sustainable career in hospitality. No polished sales pitches, just honest reflections on what it means to work in this industry.

Networking with people from practice

During the mini market, students spoke directly with Marriott recruiters and managers. Work placements, graduation projects, permanent roles and Voyage opportunities all came up.

What students take away

The energy in our Chapel said it all. Students heard how professionals navigate high pressure, irregular hours and the drive to always perform. And how, despite all of that, you can build a career you are genuinely proud of.
